Privacy Policy

This notice explains how Stokkereit Technologies (Norwegian sole proprietorship) collects, stores and uses data related to the mobile application “Snake Odyssey!”.

Definition of Terms

In this notice, by “we” is meant the sole proprietorship Stokkereit Technologies, who built the “Snake Odyssey!” application. The “Application” represents the application “Snake Odyssey!”, and the “Service” refers to the Application as well as related websites and services we control.

In this text, “the user” means you as an individual who uses the Service. The term “data” is used to refer to personal data that can be related to the user.

The term “Service providers” means third party services and properties that might be utilized by the Service, including sharing of data. This notice will not apply to Service providers. Instead, we provide an overview of which Service providers are used and in which context, and refer links to  relevant third party policies.

Agreement

This notice applies to the Service. If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of data in relation to this policy. The data that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share data with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

We also recommend the user to read our Terms and Conditions, which explains the use of our Service.

Data Collection

When using the Application, data will be collected according to the following categories.

  • Application progress data: this is data related to the progress of the user within the Application, such as how many games have been unlocked, which games are marked as favorites, game scores and amount of in-game currency. If no account is created, such data is stored only locally on the device running the Application, and we cannot access that data. When the Application is deleted on the device, all that data is also deleted.
  • User data: this is data related more specifically to the user, such as email address, when the Application was last used and keys for handling storage of data, including a generated user identification number. If no account is created, such data is stored only locally on the device running the Application, and we cannot access that data. When the Application is deleted on the device, all that data is also deleted.
  • Account data: this is data related to the scenario that the user connects an account through Service provides, such as Google or Facebook, and that we might attain from those Service profives (such as account names and email addresses).
  • Advertisement data: this is data related to advertisements displayed within the Application, as well as interactions with those.
  • Application purchase data: this is data related to purchases done within the Application, such as subscription to become a patron, or increase of in-game currency. In such scenarios we receive data from Service providers handling the purchases to validate the payments (however, we do not receive any payment method information).
  • Device data: this is data about hardware or operating system based identifiers, and online identifiers such as IP address. This also includes device specific data such as language and coarse location.
  • Crash log data: this is data related to bugs, errors, or other problems the user encounters when using the Application.
  • Service contact data: this is data related to the user having communication with us through the Service. This can for instance be email correspondence to provide customer service.

As we operate the Service globally, the data is likely to be stored and processed in other countries than the user’s home country when interacting with the Service. By using our Service, you consent to this practice.

Data Use

The data we collect is only in order to provide a better user experience for the Application, and for monetization purposes. Here follows an overview of how data is used.

  • Application progress data and user data is stored in order for the user to be able to retain relevant data for the Application to function independently of device. This data might also be used at an aggregate level by us internally to analyze overall progress and Application interaction across users.
  • Account data is used in order for us to be able to identify the data of each user to the correct user. Account data might also be used in order to provide account services and support, or to improve the Service by running surveys.
  • Advertisement data is used in order for us to know which advertisements have been watched and interacted with and related advertisement funding earned.
  • Application purchase data is used in order for us to know which products have been purchased.
  • Device data is solely used within the Application to e.g. allocate the relevant advertisement keys needed, as these depend on the operating system. No such data is stored by us.
  • Crash log data is used by us in order to understand when the Application faces issues, such as minor bugs or more severe crashes. This is solely used so we are able to improve the Service.
  • Service contact data is used for us to communicate with the user and keep track of communication history. This data will only be used for us to improve the Service.

All the above mentioned data might be used internally by us in order for us to analyze and better understand our Service and how it is used. This will be done solely in order for us to be able to improve the Service.

Data Collection Sources

  • Application progress data and user data is only collected directly from the user or when the user interacts with the Application. This data is only stored locally on the device that runs the Application if the user does not register an account. When the user registers an account, this data will be stored both locally on the device and through the Service providers Firebase Realtime Database and Firebase Authentication.
  • Account data that is needed by us will be stored in Firebase Authentication, and happens if you choose the option of using Service providers (such as Google or Facebook) to register an account.
  • Advertisement data is collected through Google AdMob as a Service provider, in relation to interaction the user has to advertisements within the Application.
  • Purchase data is collected through purchases the user performs within the Application, and is handled through either Google Play or Apple’s App Store, depending on the operating system of the device. Also we use RevenueCat as a Service provider to help facilitate payments between the Application and the relevant app store. When such purchases have been performed, some data will also be stored as application progress data (such as whether or not the user has subscribed to become a patron).
  • Device data is collected within the Application for it to provide the appropriate service (such as localization in relation to purchases).
  • Crash log data is collected as the user interacts with the Application through Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Service contact data is only collected in relation to the user choosing to communicate with channels of the Service, such as email correspondence for customer service.

Cookies

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device’s internal memory.

The Service does not use cookies explicitly. However, the Service may use third-party code and libraries that use cookies to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of the Service.

Service Providers

As described in the previous sections, we may employ Service providers due to the following reasons:

  • Facilitate the Service.
  • Perform services related to the Service.
  • Assist on analyzing how our Service is used by the users.

These Service providers may collect or have access to data related to the user. Remember that this notice does not apply to Service providers. We therefore provide a list of the relevant Service providers that might be used within the Application, as well as links to their external privacy policy.

If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Regarding Shared of Media Content

Within the Application, the user can find instructions of how to share media content thorough email. If the user submit an email with content, we will store the content as long as it is in use. In the case that we do not use the content, we might store it for up to 3 months considering suitable usage. After that, it will be deleted.

Content that are in use, will be stored on a web server. We might also upload content on other social media platforms we control for branding purposes.

In the scenario that the user has submitted content and later want it deleted, this can be done by sending a request to support@snakeodyssey.com.

Data Retention Time

We will keep the data as long as necessary in order to achieve the purposes it was collected for. This includes providing the Service to the user, and to comply with relevant legal or reporting requirements.

Inactive accounts and related data might be deleted.

Data Security

We value your trust in providing us your data, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. We specifically chose to use established Service providers like Firebase for storing your data to ensure compliance with industry standards for data security.

However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is perfectly secure and reliable. We therefore cannot guarantee the absolute security of the data.

Data Access and Deletion

By laws and regulations, you have rights to access and deletion of your data. Deletion of data is done by account deletion within the Application. For more information on this, please read our instructions on account and data deletion.

Please contact us if you need help on exercising any of your rights.

Children

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do the necessary actions.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, the user is advised to review this notice periodically for any changes, as the updates will be available here. Depending on the significance of the changes, we might also notify the user by other means.
